"Flowers on the Plaza" Unveiled at the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland
October 8, 2012

Although Kottler Metal Products has built its business on the cornerstones of quailty, service, and reputation, we also focus heavily on supporting and giving back to our community.  The Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland offers a place to call home at little or no cost, so families can access the best health care and help their children heal faster and cope better.  Kottler Metal Products is proud to support the Ronald McDonald House with a donation to their recent expansion project, and the contribution of the thirty bent tubes that have been hand painted by local artist Hector Vega to brighten up the main entrance to the House.

Ronald McDonald House® of Cleveland Unveils New Sign and Public Art

The Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland is cutting the ribbon on a new sign and public art display on the corner of Euclid Avenue and East 105th Street.  Designed by local artist Hector Vega and City Architecture, “Flowers on the Plaza” is funded through a generous gift from Mort and Iris November, in honor of Mr. November’s daughter, Debra Ann.  The new sign and public art display is part of Ronald McDonald House’s $12 million capital campaign and expansion project.

A respected member of the non-profit community, Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland is a home-away-from-home for families of sick children.  For 33 years Ronald McDonald House has served over 35,000 families who come to Cleveland for its world renowned pediatric medical care.  Located on the northwest corner of Euclid Avenue and East 105th Street, Ronald McDonald House’s location is historically important as part of Doan’s Corners and presently important as part of the Euclid Corridor.  This highly visible location is now brighter and better identified with the addition of the “Flowers on the Plaza” public art and new Ronald McDonald House sign.

Phase one of the Ronald McDonald House capital campaign, “Flowers on the Plaza,” is made possible by a gift from Mort and Iris November.  The Novembers are dedicated to bettering the lives of children as a tribute to the legacy of Mort’s daughter, Debra Ann.  “For to help one child enriches many – like a ripple in a pond,” said Mort.  This public art installation is a visual gift to the entire community, one of many legacy donations the Novembers have made through the Phyllis and Debra Ann November Children’s Fund.

In classic Hector Vega style, the thirty sculpted tulips are brightly-colored, whimsical, and larger than life, adding to the essence of the “Garden House,” as the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland is known among the 300+ Houses worldwide.  In addition to the public art and sign, the campaign includes a 20,000 square foot expansion.  Designed by City Architecture and constructed by Regency Construction Services, the expansion will add seventeen additional guest rooms to the current thirty-seven guest rooms available at the House.  The demand for service at Ronald McDonald House has grown significantly as a result of the increase in pediatric services offered at area medical centers.  Over the past four years, the House has experienced record occupancy rates.  As a result, Ronald McDonald House has turned away over 3,000 families over the past four years due to a lack of available rooms.  Estimated to open in late 2013, the expansion will allow Ronald McDonald House to accommodate up to fifty-four families each night.
